  • Seminar "Analysis in Tatra 2023" was held on September 10-14, 2023 in Male Ciche near Zakopane, Poland. It will be dedicated to various topics on broadly understood Analysis, with the emphasis on Calculus of Variations, Optimization, Partial Differential Equations, functional analysis, harmonic analysis.
  • 60LB Geometry and Singularities - 60th anniversary of Lev Birbrair. The conference was held on Juky 16-22, 2023 in Będlewo near Poznań, Poland. It was organised in honour of prof. Lev Birbrair on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The main topics were: Lipschitz Geometry of Singularities, Real Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Theory of Singularities, Geometry and Topology.
  • Nonsmooth Problems with Applications in Mechanics. The conference was held on June 17-22, 2023 in Będlewo near Poznan, Poland. The aim of this conference is to present the state of the art in the mathematical treatment of nonsmooth problems and their applications. The topics of the conference included (but was not limited to) fixed point problems, nonlinear operators, variational and hemivariational inequalities, abstract inclusions and sweeping processes, nonlinear boundary value problems, optimization problems, optimal control, numerical methods, applications in solid, fluid and contact mechanics, real word applications in industry, transportation, mechanics of materials.

2022

  • Gdańsk-Kraków-Łódź-Warszawa Workshop in Singularity Theory - a special session dedicated to the memory of Stanislaw Łojasiewicz was held on December 11-17, 2022 at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw. The aim of the workshop was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of Professor Stanisław Łojasiewicz, who played a crucial role in the creation of the Gdańsk-Kraków-Łódź-Warszawa Seminar in Singularity Theory.

  • ​The International Conference on "Analysis and Approximation of Variational and Hemivariational Inequalities'' was held on April 10-11, 2021. The meeting was organized as an online event via Zoom. The organizers were CONMECH members Weimin Han (University of Iowa, USA), Stanislaw Migorski (Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland), and Mircea Sofonea (Universite de Perpignan Via Domitia, France).

2019

  • Seminar "Function Spaces and PDEs" was held on September 23-27, 2019 in Male Ciche near Zakopane, Poland. It was dedicated to various topics on Function Spaces and Partial Differential Equations, and their applications.
  • Perpignan's Days of Applied Mathematics, 2nd edition. International Conference was held in Perpignan, France on June 13 - 14, 2019 organized by the Laboratory of Mathematics and Physics (LAMPS) of the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) in honor of Meir Shillor for his 70th birthday. The aim of the conference was to discuss recent developments on Mathematical Analysis with potential applications to Mechanics and to provide a forum for fruitful interactions in related fields of research.

2018

  • The 12th AIMS Conference on Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations and Applications was held in Taipei, Taiwan on July 5 - 9, 2018. We coorganized the special session: Evolutions of Single and Set-Valued Dynamical Systems and their Applications. The session focused on recent developments in deterministic and stochastic nonlinear dynamical systems and related topics including real life problems of economics, biology, mechanics and other areas. Main topics of the session included, but were not limited to, nonlinear evolution equations and inclusions, control and optimization problems, deterministic and stochastic differential equations and inclusions, nonsmooth systems, variational methods, convex and nonconvex problems as well as their various applications.
  • "Emerging Trends in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics" Conference was held in Krakow on June 18-22, 2018 organized by the Chair of Optimizationa and Control at the Jagiellonian University. The conference was a continuation of the conference ETAMM organized in Perpignan in 2016. The main aim of the conference was to identify new trends in the domains of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, and their Applications in Physics, Engineering Sciences, Biology and Economy. The conference brought together mathematicians, interdisciplinary scientists and engineers from all over the world.

2017

  • Mathematical Analysis with Applications in Mechanics conference was organized by the Laboratory of Mathematics and Physics (LAMPS) of the University of Perpignan Via Domitria on September 6–8, 2017 in honor of Mircea Sofonea for his 60th birthday.The aim of the conference was to discuss recent developments on Mathematical Analysis with potential applications to Mechanics and to provide a forum for fruitful interactions in related fields of research.
  • IFIP TC7 conference took place at Middle East Technical University in Ankara (Turkey) on July 17-21, 2017.
  • MATHFLOWS2017 workshop was held between January 16th and January 20th in Bedlewo, Poland. It was dedicated to current developments of analytical techniques and to the state-of-the-art in mathematical fluid mechanics, and will bring together experts coming from different mathematical schools.

2016

  • In October 2016 (from 28th till 29th), the 3rd Weekend on Variational Methods & Differential Equations took place in Catania, Italy.
  • Tenth Forum on Partial Differential Equations was hosted by Banach Center on 19.06.2016 - 24.06.2016. The aim of the conference was to gather Polish experts working in the field of partial differential equations - in order to exchange experiences, ideas, and methods.
  • The Institute of Mathematics of the Lódz University of Technology organized the conference on Dynamical Systems and Applications in Lódz on June 16-18, 2016. The conference was the fourth in the conference series "Dynamical Systems and Applications" organized by the Institute of Mathematics, Lódz University of Technology the first of which was held in honor of Prof. Avner Friedman on May 7, 2013. It was also a follow-up of the conference "Micro and Macro Systems in Life Sciences" held in Bedlewo, June 8-13, 2015.
  • Emergind Trends in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics 2016 conference held from May 30 to June 3, 2016 in Perpignan, France,organized by the University of Perpignan Via Domitia. The main aim of this conference was to identify new trends in the domains of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, and their Applications in Physics, Engineering Sciences, Biology and Economy.
  • The 8th Contact Mechanics International Symposium was held at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research (IPPT) in Warsaw, Poland on May 11-13, 2016. The series of CMIS symposia started in 1992 in Lausanne, and the last 7th CMIS was held in Abu Dhabi in 2014. Following the tradition of CMIS symposia, the aim of this symposium is to gather researchers from the mathematical and engineering communities working on various aspects of contact mechanics using theoretical, experimental and computational approaches.

  • The The 2014 International Conference on Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, Saint Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia, September 23-25, 2014.
  • Applied Mathematics Conference at Oakland University, Michigan. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Oakland University, MI, organizes a one-day Applied Mathematics Conference on September 13, 2014. The purpose of this conference is to bring together mathematicians, engineers and biologists with interests in the areas of applied partial differential equations and mathematical biology. This conference is also dedicated to Professor Meir (Fiki) Shillor on his 65th birthday and in recognition of his contributions to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Oakland University.
  • The 4th World Congress on Engineering and Technology (CET 2014), to be held on October 26-28, 2014 in Wuhan China, is composed of 6 Symposiums on the frontier topics in the engineering and technological subjects. It dedicates to facilitating the global development of engineering and technology and exploring ways in which the latest research results can be shared. The Symposium on Applied and Engineering Mathematics (AEM 2014) will be one of the special tracks within this World Congress.
  • The 10th AIMS Conference on Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations and Applications, July 7-11, 2014 in Madrid, Spain. Special session on "Evolution equations and inclusions with applications to control, mathematical modeling and mechanics" is organized by N. U. Ahmed, S. Migorski and I. I. Vrabie.
  • The International Conference on Complex and Hybrid Systems with Applications 2014 (CHSA 2014), July 5-8, 2014 will be hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, P.R. China. The objective of this conference is to disseminate and exchange the recent research progress and advances on all issues and topics related to complex and hybrid systems and their applications. Scientists, researchers and practitioners in all related fields in energy and power systems, control engineering, optimization and management are invited to attend the conference and present their research findings and state-of-the-art solutions, to share experiences on potentials and limits.
  • The International Workshop on Variational and hemivariational Inequalities: Theory, Numerics, and Applications, June 28-30, 2014, Xi'an will be organized by Department of Computing Science, School of Mathematics and Statistics, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, Shaanxi, P.R. China. The workshop will focus on the recent developments in mathematical theory and numerical methods for variational and hemivariational inequalities, and their applications in sciences and engineering. The main topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to, analysis of problems leading to variational and hemivariational inequalities, properties of solutions of inequalities, numerical analysis of inequalities, optimization techniques, and applications. The workshop will serve as a forum to exchange new ideas and results related to research on variational and hemivariational inequalities, to expose research topics to graduate students and junior faculty, and to promote collaborations among different groups of participants.
  • The 16th International Conference on Automatic Conrol, Modelling and Simulation (ACMOS '14), Brasov, Romania, June 26-28, 2014.
  • The International Symposium on Modern Mathematics and Mechanics will be held on June 23–27, 2014. The event will take place in the historical capital city of Moravia – Olomouc, Czech Republic. The symposium is organized by the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc with the list of main speakers.
  • The conference "Dynamical Systems and Applications II" will be held on June 12, 2014 at the Department of Mathematics, the Technical University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland. The conference concerns major trends in the theory of nonlinear equations dynamical systems. There are two parallel sessions "Boundary value problems and applied variational methods" organized by M. Galewski and A. Ochal, and "Nonlinear equations" organized by M. Galewski and E. Schmeidel according to the program schedule.
  • The 18th European Conference on Mathematics for Industry, ECMI 2014, will be held on June 9–13, 2014 in Taormina, Italy. The conference will focus on various aspects of industrial and applied mathematics, such as Aerospace, Information and Communication, Energy, Imaging, Biology and Biotechnology, Finance, Education. The meeting will be organized by European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry and TaoSciences Research Center. The book of abstracts for 2014 ECMI Taormina Conference.
  • The conference "22nd French-Polish Seminar in Mechanics" and "the 8th Internationale Conference Modelling and Simulation of the Friction Phenomena in the Physical and Technical Systems, Friction 2014" will be held on May 19-20, 2014 at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. It helds every year, since 1990s, alternatively in France and in Poland. The average number of participants is 80 scientists.
  • A world-renowned distinguished scientist Professor Weimin Han (the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA) has been nominated for appointment as the 2014 Visiting Professor at the Chair of Optimization and Control of the Institute of Computer Science supported by the SET Project. The series of lectures on "Numerical Analysis with Applications to Contact Mechanics" by Professor Weimin Han took place on March 17-21, 2014 at the Conference Room no 1177 at the Institute of Computer Science, according to the schedule: March 17, 2014, Monday, 10:00-13:00, lecture 3h; March 18, 2014, Tuesday, 10:00-13:00, lecture 3h; March 19, 2014, Wednesday, 10:00-13:00, lecture 3h; March 20, 2014, Thursday, 10:00-13:00, lecture 3h; March 21, 2014, Friday, 9:00-12:00, lecture 2h + seminar 1h. Lectures were interdisciplinary, the subject was on the border of mathematics, computer science and mechanics. The course was addressed to Master students, PhD students, young doctors and faculty members.
  • The 2014 International Conference on Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics will be held in Venice, Italy, March 15-17, 2014.
  • The 6th German Polish Conference on Optimization – Methods and Applications with special emphasis on Smooth and Nonsmooth Optimization, Variational Problems, Variational Inequalities, and Optimal Control (GPCO6) will be held at the Leucorea in Wittenberg from February 28 to March 4, 2014. The Leucorea is one of the oldest universities in Germany, it was founded in 1502. Matin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon worked here. The University of Halle was founded in 1691 and both universities merged in 1817 to the now Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

  • The 2014 Computational Mathematics and Applications Conference (CMA 2014) was held on January 14-16, 2014, Shenzhen, P.R. China. The conference is organized according to the recommendation of the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics.
  • The 1st WSEAS International Conference on Pure Mathematics (PUMA '14) was held on January 10-12, 2014, Tenerife, Spain.

2013

  • Workshop Nonlinear Inclusions, Hemivariational Inequalities with Applications to Contact Mechanics was held on November 27-28, 2013. See also the poster with workshop announcement.
  • The 16th French-German-Polish Conference on Optimization was organized on September 23-27, 2013 at AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland. Dr. Piotr Kalita was an invited speaker at this conference. See also Call for papers.
  • The 26th IFIP TC7 Conference 2013 on System Modelling and Optimization was held on September 9-13, 2013 in Klagenfurt am Worthersee, Austria. The organizer wass the Institute of Mathematics at the Alpen-Adria Universitat Klagenfurt. A minisymposium on "Analysis and Control of Evolution Equations and Inclusions" wass organized by N. U. Ahmed, S. Migorski and I. I. Vrabie. The minisymposium was focused on the recent developments in the theory of nonlinear evolution equations, optimal control theory and related topics including real life problems of mechanics, biology, economics, and medicine. The main topics of the session included analysis of solutions of evolution problems and partial differential equations, evolution inclusions, control problems, mathematical modeling of natural systems, variational methods, convex and nonconvex problems, optimization of systems and applications.
  • The International Conference on Mathematics and System Science (MSS 2013) was held on August 14-16, 2013 in Beijing, China. This Conference covered issues on Mathematics and System Science. It was dedicated to creating a stage for exchanging the latest research results and sharing the advanced research methods. The conference was organized according to the recommendation of American Journal of Computational Mathematics.
  • The 9th International ISAAC Congress was held from August 5 to August 9, 2013 at Department of Computer Sciences and Computer Methods, Pedagogical University, Kraków, Poland.
  • The 2013 World Congress on Global Optimization (WCGO III) was held on July 7-12, 2013 in Yellow Mountain, Anhui, China. This world congress offered an excellent forum for researchers and practitioners in the field of global optimization from all over the world. The themes for this conference included Global Optimization Theory and Its Applications. The Symposium on "Variational and Hemivariational Inequalities with Applications" was organized by Weimin Han (Iowa University), Stanislaw Migorski (Jagiellonian University) and Mircea Sofonea (University of Perpignan Via Domitia).
  • The 21st French-Polish Seminar of Mechanics was held on June 13-15, 2013, LAboratoire de Mathematiques et de PhySique (LAMPS) at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, Perpignan, France. This conference included invited lectures, oral or poster communications as well as a round table discussion. 21eme Séminaire Franco-Polonais de Mécanique du 13 au 15 Juin 2013, Université de Perpignan Via Domitia. Ce colloque concerne la coopération franco-polonaise dans le domaine de la Mécanique. Il a lieu tous les ans, depuis les années quatre-vingt-dix, alternativement en France et en Pologne. Le nombre de participants moyen est de l’ordre de 80 scientifiques.
  • The Chair of Optimization and Control at the Institute of Computer Science was a coorganizer of a Seminar Nonlinearities 2013 which was held in Male Ciche, Tatra Mountains, Poland, June 11 - 15, 2013. The seminar was devoted to discussion of problems in functional analysis, probalility, the calculus of variations and PDEs. The purpose was to discuss the links between those research areas from point of view of their applications to PDEs.
  • A world-renowned distinguished scientist Professor Mircea Sofonea (University of Perpignan Via Domitia, France) has been nominated for appointment as the 2013 Visiting Professor at the Chair of Optimization and Control of the Institute of Computer Science supported by the SET Project. The series of lectures by Professor Mircea Sofonea took place on May 17-27, 2013 at the Conference Room no 1146 at the Institute of Computer Science, according to the schedule.
  • The conference "Dynamical Systems and Applications", in honor of Prof. Avner Friedman, was held on May 7, 2013 at the Department of Mathematics, the Technical University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland There were three parallel sessions of invited talks representing major trends in the theory of dynamical systems.
  • Dr. Anna Ivanova from the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, National Academy of Science of Ukraine (Donetsk, Ukraine) has visited the Chair of Optimization and Control from April 3 to May 3, 2013. The visit was sponsored by a one month scholarship from the Queen Jadwiga Fund of the Jagiellonian University.
  • Professor Bazarragchaa Barsbold, Scientific Secretary of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, National University of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar has visited the Chair of Optimization and Control on January 23, 2013. Professor Barsbold is a member of an official delegation of the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj in Poland. Bilateral talks concerned the exchange of students and professors.

2012

  • During the period October 1 to December 31, 2012, Cristina Núńez García from Departamento de Matematica Aplicada, Universidade de Vigo, Spain has visited the Chair of Optimization and Control at the Institute of Computer Science. The stay in Krakow allows her to complete the PhD thesis and obtain the European mention. She gave her presentation on “Diffusion mathematical models to describe the surfactant behaviour at the air-water interface” with recent results on a faculty seminar on November 6, 2012. She has also actively collaborated with our group and conducted a joint scientific research on "Variational analysis of the Langmuir-Hinshelwood dynamic mixed-kinetic adsorption model".
  • Conference "Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations", was held on July 9-12, 2012 in Szczawnica, Poland. It was organized by the Chair of Optimization and Control of Jagiellonian University, jointly with University of Warsaw, Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences as a satellite event of 6th European Congress of Mathematics. The conference gathered over 80 participants from 14 countries, there were 15 plenary talks, 44 presentations and a poster session. The proceedings of the conference, edited by Tomasz Adamowicz, Agnieszka Kalamajska, Stanislaw Migorski and Anna Ochal will be published by Banach Center Publications in 2013/2014.

2011

  • The Fifth German Polish Conference on Optimization (GPCO5) was held on November 9-13, 2011 in Dobczyce near Kraków, Poland. It was organized by the Group of Optimization and Control at Jagiellonian University. 50 people attended the meeting, from Poland, Germany, France, Turkey, Italy and Kuwait. The conference was supported by the Institute of Computer Science of Jagiellonian University and Polish Academy of Sciences.
  • Uroczyste pożegnanie profesorów UJ przechodzących na emeryturę W dniu 4 października 2011r. o godz. 14:00 w Collegium Maius, Rektor UJ miał zaszczyt złożyć Panu Prof. dr hab. Zdzisławowi Denkowskiemu, przechodzacemu na emeryturę po 48. latach pracy w UJ, serdeczne podziękowanie za wybitne dokonania, które przyniosły naszej Almae Matris szerokie uznanie w nauce polskiej i światowej. Ugruntowaną pozycję w nauce zdobyły prace Pana Profesora w zakresie równań różniczkowych zwyczajnych i cząstkowych, teorii optymalizacji i sterowania. Ten znakomity dorobek naukowy, uznany w świecie, został trwale zapisany w kronikach UJ. Pracownicy Instytutu Informatyki dziękują Panu Profesorowi Denkowskiemu za ogromne zaangażowanie, trud i wysiłki poniesione w trakcie pełnienia funkcji Prodziekana Wydziału Matematyki i Fizyki UJ, Dyrektora Instytutu Informatyki UJ oraz wieloletniego Kierownika Katedry Teorii Optymalizacji i Sterowania w Instytucie Informatyki. Życzymy długich lat w zdrowiu i pomyślności oraz mamy nadzieję, że swą głęboką i rozległą wiedzę zechce Pan profesor nadal pożytkować dla dobra nauki i naszej uczelni.
